day 107 Dinosaur National Monument

After breakfast we drove to Dinosaur National Monument. We saw a lot of fossils; more fossils than I have seen in one place. It was gigantic wall of fossils, and this was what had been left after 3 times as much had already been removed.  The removed fossils were more impressive and are in 7 or 8 other museums around America, including the Smithsonian in Washington.

There were lots of Sauropod bones in the wall, mainly Stegosaurus and Camarasaurus, including a head and neck, and in the room there was also a complete Allosaurus skeleton. Then we went on a walk, and saw some fossils in the rock face outside, including neck vertebra and a large leg bone. We also saw bunnies hopping around.

We then drove back into Vernal for a Mexican lunch and then onto the “fabulous” petroglyphs.  When we got to the petroglyphs, we had to walk up a pretty steep slope. When we reached the top, Dad stepped over a snake, that I then saw. We saw some petroglyphs there, but they were not the best ones we saw, we had to scramble along the cliff to see more of them, which was terrifying and these were more impressive.
